The global adoption and promotion of cryptocurrency are inevitable, with the growing demand for the valuable asset. The asset currently trading at $22,000-$24,000 depending on the platform, is the world’s largest cryptocurrency.
The asset’s growth had been gradual, but evident and the entry of bulk buyers into the industry establishes its stance. The NBA team’s owner, Mark Cuban, promised a juicy discount on Wednesday on merchandise bought with Bitcoin. The price reduction is a bid to promote the use of crypto globally. The majority holder of the team is a well-known entrepreneur and investor.
Mark Cuban changes stance on cryptocurrency
Interestingly, the investor equally owns a shark on a show on ABC known as the Shark Tank. About a year ago, the billionaire was asked why his view on cryptocurrency was negative on a show called Wired. The investor, who has a strong preference for Bitcoin, explained that the crypto worths what somebody would pay for it.
He declared that things don’t mainly hold intrinsic values, baseball cards, artworks, or even comic books. He opined that those objects could not be eaten or used for anything. Cuban continued by mentioning that paintings can only be hung on the wall and hold no more function beyond that.
The entrepreneur said fewer things could be done with a cryptocurrency, and complicated for most of the earth’s population. He asked some questions like, could crypto be put in a device, or can it be printed out? Cuban compared crypto to gold and said it doesn’t have much use without being changed into another form. The fervent investor said back in 2019 that he preferred a banana to crypto and could eat a banana. His change of heart is surprising people who had gotten the entrepreneur’s earlier claim on crypto.
Why Mavericks gave the discount
The co-owner of Dallas Mavericks shared on his Twitter page the news which read a 25% for people who purchase merchandise with Bitcoin as a means of payment. Sources explained that every $150 spent on the team’s official site will award a person a $25 gift card from now till the end of the next month.
The team will accept BTC as payments for tickets, and they partnered with Bitpay to make that process seamless. The investors shared that the new payment option is to cut across other payment options and allow the global market to use its site.
On the official site, Mavericks’ brains explained the discount was to celebrate Jersey day. The team’s CEO said that the Dallas advocate for the widespread adoption of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. The new addition in payment options will create broader accessibility for customers who prefer payment on the blockchain technology.
The site’s partner, Bitpay, has been in the blockchain payment business since 2011, making it a perfect option to provide hassle-free transactions. The platform promises a reduction in transaction fees and safe cross-border payments. It also helps customers convert crypto into dollars for payment in stores across the globe.
